An Unexpected "Vacation"

Well, it wasn't much of a vacation--an ambulance trip to the ER and emergency gallbladder surgery the next day! The doctor told me that I got in there just in time to prevent problems of a serious nature--it could even have killed me. Not news one wishes to hear! But at least it is over and I am better now. I spent 5 days in the hospital and since I didn't have my knitting with me, I found the time passing all too slowly!

Once I was home, I got to work on the Cranberry Socks again and I have them almost finished. I'm decreasing for the toe now. They are very pretty, but I don't think I'll knit another sock with K2P2 down the whole instep very soon. It is so boring, boring, boring!

My next pair of socks is already started: Cascading Leaves, a pattern by Jeanie Townsend, in a pale olive wool. She has a group on Yahoo and all her patterns are free. I really enjoy this group very much--lots of sharing and no complaining! Jeanie is a great help to us all. If you want to check it out, here is the link:

I just finished knitting a Baby Surprise Jacket for my 5 yr. old granddaughter, Piper. It is a kind of "coat of many colors" for her and I think she will love it. It is so easy to adjust the size of it by changing the yarn and needle sizes. And fun to try to get people to guess what it is before you fold it and sew the shoulder seams and make it into a sweater! You can get the pattern from Schoolhouse Press and help for making it on the Yahoo group knitbabysurprise.
