Love to Knit and Sew

Love to Knit and Sew

I have been working on toddler socks for the rez and using leftover sock yarn combined with wool sport yarn. The variegated yarns keep their patterns and the natural cream of the wool really brings out their colors well.

But one thing I'm finding out, is the doubled yarn is a little hard to manage when I am doing the heel. I've been thinking about short-row heels for a while, so maybe this is the time to learn to do them and see if I like them. I'll have to do some searching for directions, hopefully with pictures!

Love to Knit and Sew

Here it is Friday, and I haven't written for days! Well, life does catch up with us!

My latest knitting project is a pair of wool socks for CIC: Children in Common, for the orphanages in Russia. I found a wonderful buy on wool yarn on eBay. 2000 yards of Aran sportweight natural. I'm combining it with leftover sock yarns from other projects and knitting them on size 6 circs. I love to knit 2 socks on 2 circs because when you finish, you actually have the pair of sock completed--no second sock syndrome! The bane of my life when I first started knitting socks! At first it seemed so slow to me, but eventually I was able to relax and realize that I WAS knitting TWO socks. Now I wouldn't knit them any other way. If I can figure out how to add pictures, I'll put some of the socks I've made.

Welcome to my world!

I have decided to create a place to share my ideas and photos of my sewing and knitting. I will update it regularly with projects I am doing and share some of my thoughts.

My favorite charity is Cheyenne River Reservation in South Dakota and I knit and sew to keep children and elders warm. I also knit for family members and you will see examples of that as well
